Gift Guide for Movie and TV Lovers This Holiday Season

Looking for that perfect gift guide for movie and TV lovers? What if they love to travel too? Here are some gift suggestions for traveling cinephiles! (For the record, I do not have any monetary affiliation with any of these products or companies except my own book.)

Themed Cookbooks

Ever watch a movie or television show and wish you had the recipe for one of the dishes they were eating? Now you can. There are many cookbooks out now that are perfect additions to a fandom’s shelf. For The Goldbergs fan, there’s The Goldbergs Cookbook, which is actually written by the real Beverly Goldberg. It includes such recipes as Bevy’s World-Class Shrimp Parm, Barry’s Own Butter Cookies, and Hearty Seven-Meat Meatloaf. The book also lets you know what season and episode the recipe is mentioned in.

There is also the Gilmore Girls: The Official Cookbook by Elena Craig (there are unofficial cookbooks of many shows too). Interestingly on Elena’s Instagram page, I found out there her son James Asmus and his friend August Craig wrote Rick and Morty: The Official Cookbook. Craig also collaborated with Ashley Eckstein and Kelly Knox on Star Wars Everyday: A Year of Activities, Recipes and Crafts From a Galaxy Far, Far Away. What’s really cool about Elena’s book is that there is also a Gilmore Girls Cookbook Gift Set which is the book and a Gilmore Girls apron. On this site it’s back-ordered, so just check for updates if you need it for Christmas.

You name a popular television show or film and you can probably find a cookbook for it. There is one for Friends, The Golden Girls and, yes, even a meth-free book for Breaking Bad. Remember, some books are just recipes that are inspired by the shows, but I’ve had fun with these books (you can find my I Love Lucy and Friends posts where I actually cook something from the books) and they do make great gifts.

Experience Tickets

One of the most fun things I’ve done recently is seeing the Friends Experience in New York City. I also have tickets to The Golden Girls pop-up restaurant. You can buy someone tickets to experiences like these too or tickets to an event in 2023 for their favorite film or television show. How about paying for their time at next year’s Dirty Dancing Festival or a visit to The Land of Oz?

What about a themed cruise? If you have a larger holiday budget you can treat your loved one to a Star Trek Cruise (There is a waitlist for the lower budget rooms for this cruise, but hopefully you are getting ideas from this article. It wasn’t meant to just send you on that cruise.) For the classic movie fan, check out the TCM Classic Cruise launching in November 2023. Movies (can’t get better than that), Mexico (yes!) and all on a Disney ship? Sign me up (or gift it to me! LOL).

Now honestly I can go on and on here. You can rent them a themed hotel room like The Loft Suite at the Graduate Roosevelt Hotel in New York. Here, you can find a room made to honor the Tom Hanks movie Big, a throwback pop culture room with so many toys. The room rents for up to 6 people, so the $950 per night price tag can be shared. I’ve stayed at The Roxbury Hotel in Catskill, New York and I chose The Addams Family room to stay in. It was creepy and cookey. LOL and I loved every second of it. It’s such a fun hotel.

Travel Ideas

Of course, if you’re on this site your friend or loved one not only likes movies and television but they love to travel to see filming locations of their favorite flicks or shows. So what do they need when they are on the road? Here are some things in our gift guide for movie and TV lovers that will help make their travels a little better (I’m not suggesting products on this because it would depend on your budget):

  • Travel journal: give them a place to write down what they saw and how they felt. Yes, I know, people use their phones for stuff like this, but why not give your loved one an old-fashioned leather-bound travel journal? They are really cool and can also be a place to put ticket stubs and photos too.
  • Camera: A good camera means good memories of film and television locations, museums, and cruises they visited or took. Cinephiles love video so why not give them a way to capture their traveling memories on film? Okay, yes people use their phones for stuff like this, but a nice non-phone camera can really come in handy.
  • On Location: A Film and TV Lover’s Travel Guide: This is my book (left). You knew I was going to sneak this in, but hey it still makes a good present.
  • Portable projector: When we travel there isn’t always a place to enjoy the movie experience, so why not give the gift of a traveling projector? Watch a movie on a hotel wall or on the outside of an RV. Here is an example, but I do not have personal experience with this.

Hopefully, this gift guide for movie and TV lovers has inspired you to find the perfect gift for the movie and tv fan in your life. Happy Holidays!
